about

This page has "about me" written across the top. Right next to it is a picture of me encased in a heart, with lots of little pink hearts around it. It's labeled "me (maya)". The body text reads: "Hi, I’m Maya! It’s nice to meet you! I’m an artist and designer from Normal, Illinois. (Silly name, right?) I’m currently a student at SIU Carbondale, studying film and industrial design, so that’s where you can find me for most of the year. My main work experience is from my local bakery, where I’ve spent three years’ worth of icing cookies, cupcakes, and greeting everybody in town with a smile. That’s where I’ve learned to help clients envision their perfect treats for their biggest celebrations. I feel honored to help bring those little guys to life. Luckily, that skill can be applied anywhere, and I’ve found myself bringing into my work outside the bakery! My work tends to include bright, playful colors, whimsical characters, and nostalgic themes. Some of my biggest inspiration comes from the world I experienced as a kid: the toys, the games, the movies that we watched over and over on our little box TVs. Not necessarily wishing to go back, but to bring some of that magic from the past into our present. I think we can all use some of that. The bottom line is, I’m passionate about telling stories, and helping build meaningful connections between audience and art. That stuff makes me smile. I hope I’ve made you smile today, too!"
